Five of the NFL's Best Dressed Players
NFL uniforms are iconic. They are typically the most common way we picture our favorite athletes. Even commercials often have athletes wearing their uniforms in situations they normally wouldn’t. But some of football’s biggest stars also have an impressive sense of off-field fashion. We’ve listed five of our favorite dressers in the league below.
Tom Brady is a longstanding member of the NFL’s most fashion-conscious club.
His style has gone through numerous changes throughout his time in the league, having experimented with longer hair, glasses, and even ridiculously red pants. In fact, his taste in fashion is almost as newsworthy as his success on the field.
We’ll always remember the sharp grey suit and black tie he wore for his Esquire cover shoot, but Brady is also known for his more casual outfits with sweaters, scarves, and jeans.
San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick earned his spot on this list after being named the NFL’s most stylish player by GQ.
Kaepernick is mostly known for his more casual style, often wearing jackets and non-collared shirts. But he can rock a suit and tie when the occasion calls for it. Have any doubts? Check out the outfit he wore to the 2014 ESPY Awards.
The solid blue slim-fit suit pairs well with his barely blue shirt, and the universally acceptable solid black tie brings the whole outfit together without overpowering the other colors.
For the Arizona Cardinals, there’s no doubt that Larry Fitzgerald is the best dressed in the NFL.
They are not the only ones who feel that way, either. The wide receiver is an easy inclusion in any ‘best dressed’ discussion. He was even voted as such in a Sports Illustrated poll of 250 NFL players in 2011.
Fitzgerald likes to blend subtle suits with somewhat more exciting accessories, adding patterned pocket squares and bright colored ties for the perfect amount of flair.
It also helps that he has one of the liveliest personalities in the game, so he’s capable of pulling off just about any look with a confident, sincere smile.
We are big fans of bow ties, and Richard Sherman is, without a doubt, the most notable bow tie wearing player in the NFL. The bow is such a fixture in Sherman’s wardrobe that you will never see him on game day without one.
The Seahawks cornerback definitely has the personality for bow ties, often catching the media’s attention with his goofy antics and eccentric personality.
But Sherman also brings class, matching his bows well with traditional suits for a more professional look. Sherman doesn’t just wear bow ties, though. He also advocates for them. His passion for the garment led him to star in a YouTube video where he gave fans a peek into his personal bow tie collection before giving step-by-step instructions for tying them yourself.
It’s hard to tell if Packer fans like Clay Matthews more for sacking opposing quarterbacks or for his "cover of a romance novel" looks, but we don’t see any reason they can’t like both.
The first thing most people think of when it comes to Matthews is his iconic hair. And while his commercial-ready locks are certainly a large part of his fashion, Matthews is no stranger to sartorial excellence either. Whether it is wearing designer suits for Hugo Boss ads or a classy tuxedo and bow tie for the Kentucky Derby, Matthews is a master of suave style.
