In case you didn’t know, this silver tie bar doesn’t just look good, it has a purpose, too. Tie bars keep a necktie in place by securing it to the shirt. (And yes, that clasp actually should be clipped on the placket of a dress shirt.) As far as placement, wear it high enough so you can see it with your suit jacket buttoned. Most people put theirs between their third and forth shirt buttons (counting down from the neck).
