Kate and Andy’s 2020 Burgundy Wedding

Kate and Andy first met on an online dating site. They were a match from the start, but living two hours apart wasn’t ideal.

“We made it work!” Kate said.

Fast forward to a July 4th hike in North Carolina. At the top of the mountain, surrounded by stunning views, Andy got down on one knee and proposed.

“I said yes!” Kate said. “It is something we’ll never forget.”

Kate and Andy got started planning a 200-person wedding in Greenville, South Carolina. The big day with family and friends should have been September 12, 2020, but those plans were put on hold. Instead, the couple was married at their church, sans guests.

“We decided to move ahead now and then have a big party late next year when it’s safe,” Kate said.

Andy still wore his originally purchased burgundy wedding tie to their ceremony. It represented the colors of their team—the South Carolina Gamecocks. (Their wedding colors were set to be garnet and black.)

2020 couples are definitely ones to look to for advice on wedding planning, and Kate’s advice is spot on.

“Don’t sweat the small stuff.” She said. “And stick to a budget!”
